Bris Photographer in New Jersey

A bris is eight in the morning, forty minutes long, in a room built for half the people who came. Nobody has slept. The kvatter and kvatterin are usually the people you most want photographed and are usually the people nobody thought to point out to the photographer. And there is a stretch of it that should not be photographed at all, which is a judgement call rather than a rule, and which somebody who has covered a hundred of them makes without being asked.

What is worth having afterwards is small: the baby before, the grandfather saying the brachah, the sandek, the naming, the mother's face when it is over, and the room. We photograph brissim and shalom zachors throughout New Jersey, early and quietly, and turn the set around quickly — these are photographs families want to send the same week, not in six.
