Bar Mitzvah Photographer in Cherry Hill, NJ

South Jersey bar mitzvahs tend to be a Shabbos morning in shul followed by a party — sometimes that night, sometimes Sunday, occasionally both. Each shul in Cherry Hill and around it has its own position on photography during the service, and the useful thing a photographer can do is find that out in advance instead of arriving and improvising.

Where cameras are welcome, we work from the back with long lenses and no flash, and the family barely knows we are there. Where they are not, we build the coverage differently: tefillin and preparation, a proper session with him and his father, the walk to shul, and then everything from the kiddush onwards. The party is the easy half, and it is photographed for the people in it rather than the décor around them. Photo and film, one team.
