Bar Mitzvah Photographer in Brooklyn, NY

A Brooklyn bar mitzvah is usually two events with a gap in the middle: the aliyah in shul on Shabbos or Monday morning, where a camera may or may not be welcome and the answer depends entirely on the shul, and the seudah, which is a full evening in a hall. The first requires knowing the halachic and communal boundaries before walking in. The second requires being able to work a crowded room fast.

We cover both, and we ask about the first properly — which shul, what the rav has said, whether photographs are wanted at all on the day or only at the seudah. Where photography in shul is not appropriate, there is a better answer than nothing: the tefillin, the preparation, a proper session with his father and grandfather. Those are frequently the strongest pictures of the whole simcha in any case.
