Bar Mitzvah Photographer in New York City
A Manhattan bar mitzvah tends to be a tighter, later, more designed evening than its New Jersey equivalent, and the room is usually beautiful and usually badly lit for photography — dim, warm, and with a ceiling too high or too dark to bounce anything off. Shooting it on available light gives you an orange album. Shooting it on straight flash gives you a school-hall album. Neither is what was paid for.
We light these rooms deliberately and unobtrusively, which takes twenty minutes of setup before guests arrive and is the single largest difference in the final set. Beyond that it is the same job everywhere: the leining, the speeches, the grandparents, the friends, and the hour of dancing where nobody is thinking about a camera. Photo and cinema from one in-house team, so the room is not being worked twice.
From our work.
