Bat Mitzvah Photographer in New Jersey

A bas mitzvah is her night, and the difference between a good album and a forgettable one is almost entirely about who was photographed. The room is full of twelve-year-old girls who have known each other since playgroup, mothers and aunts and grandmothers, and a speech she has been practising for a month. Those are the pictures she will want at twenty-five. The centrepieces are not.

So we work the room rather than the schedule: her table, her friends, the moment she finishes the speech and looks for her mother, the dancing once the self-consciousness wears off. Portraits early, while the hair is still exactly as it was planned. We photograph and film bas mitzvahs throughout New Jersey, from Lakewood and Toms River to Teaneck, Cherry Hill and the shore, with one team covering both so nobody is competing for the same shot.
