Chabad Wedding Photographer

A Chabad wedding has its own minhagim around the chuppah, the order of the evening and the dancing, and it frequently brings together a guest list drawn from very different places — family, the community, and people who came to Yiddishkeit through the shluchim and may be at a frum wedding for the first time. Photographing it well means being alert to both.

What we do here is what we do at any wedding where the customs are specific: ask, once, thoroughly, well beforehand, and then never need to ask again on the night. The outdoor chuppah, often at dusk, is the technical centrepiece and is planned for rather than improvised. The dancing is covered properly on both sides. And the quiet things — a father, a grandmother, an old friend who travelled a long way — are photographed because somebody was watching for them, which is the only way they are ever caught.
