Persian Jewish weddings are big, warm and built around family — long guest lists, a great many of them related, and a community that runs from Great Neck and the rest of Long Island to relatives travelling in from much further away. Many families keep a henna night before the wedding, and the music and dancing carry the room long after an ordinary schedule says the evening should be winding down.

Photographing one well starts with the family's own order of events rather than somebody else's template. Which customs are kept, who walks in when, and which relatives have to be in the formal portraits — in a family this size that list matters, and it is settled before the day. Then the technical job: large rooms, long nights, a full dance floor in low light, and a chuppah exposed properly for faces and sky at once. Photography and cinema come from one in-house team.
