Sephardic and Syrian Jewish Wedding Photographer

Sephardic and Syrian weddings run to their own order and their own sound, and the differences are not decorative. There are stages of the evening that have no Ashkenazi equivalent, the music drives the room in a completely different way, and the family structures that need photographing are broader — a photographer working from an Ashkenazi mental checklist will miss things that everyone present considers central.

We shoot these regularly through Deal, the shore communities and Brooklyn, and we plan them from the family's own order of events rather than a template. Practically that means asking what happens and when, in detail, before the day; being in position for the parts that come early; and covering the extended family with the seriousness the community gives it. The technical work — very large rooms, very long nights, very low light on the dance floor — is the same challenge everywhere and gets the same preparation.
