Yeshivish Wedding Photographer

A yeshivish wedding in Lakewood, Passaic or Baltimore has a very consistent shape and a very particular set of priorities. The chosson's side of the evening is heavy on people — rabbeim, chavrusas, the yeshiva — and those relationships are the photographs the family will care about in twenty years, not the centrepieces. Getting them means knowing to look for them rather than waiting for somebody to point.

The rest is craft under pressure. An outdoor chuppah at dusk, separate dancing that has to be covered properly on both sides, a mitzvah tantz late at night in almost no light, and a family that would like all of it without ever being aware there was a photographer in the room. We shoot these constantly, we do not need the evening explained, and the album that comes out of it is edited down to the frames that are actually worth keeping.
